Richard Medical Academy values its partnership with students, faculty, and staff, and in concert with that partnership, has created the following guidelines in response to COVID-19 (Rev. November 1, 2022)
School Policies:
1. The school will routinely clean and sanitize all work surfaces and classrooms to ensure the safety of students and faculty
2. Seats have been positioned 6 feet a part or more where feasible, for appropriate social distancing. Please do not move them closer together.
3. Masks are optional but highly encouraged to be worn over the nose and mouth when on campus and whenever working closer than 6' apart in lab/clinical.
4. Food and drink are to be consumed either off campus or in your vehicle. At no time can food and drink be consumed in the classroom. Please consult with your instructor if you need additional break time due to a medical condition.
COVID-19 Exposure:
If you are experiencing signs and symptoms of COVID-19 or you test positive for COVID-19 you must follow these guidelines:
⦁ DO NOT report to the campus for class
⦁ Notify the Campus Director that you have tested positive for COVID-19 and that you will not be attending class. Campus Director will notify the appropriate faculty.
⦁ Send a copy of your positive COVID-19 test to the Campus Director.
⦁ Quarantine per the guidelines stated below for 5 days.
⦁ You are NOT REQUIRED TO RETEST after you have completed the quarantine period unless you are still having symptoms or fever.
⦁ If you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 (see the definition of CLOSE CONTACT below) then you must follow the stated guidelines.
⦁ If you were not in contact with a person suspected to have COVID-19 then you are not required to quarantine or test as indicated
⦁ If you have been fully vaccinated ( at least 2 weeks AFTER the last dose) AND are not exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, you do NOT need to quarantine. You will need to wear a mask on campus for 10 days. Vaccination documentation must be in your student or staff/faculty file. In addition to the above information, there will be additional requirements in place in order to attend class safely.
⦁ You are still encouraged to practice safe distancing when in the classrooms, eating areas, and common areas.
⦁ If you are found to be violating mandatory requirements, you will be reminded and if you continue to violate, you will be sent home as an unexcused absence.
⦁ You are highly encouraged to wear a mask while you are on campus to avoid exposure risk: the mask should cover your entire mouth and nose.
⦁ You must practice safe frequent handwashing.
⦁ Due to the inability of safe eating practice, there will now be NO FOOD OR DRINK PERMITTED IN THE CLASSROOMS. You will be given additional breaks outside of the classrooms to consume food or drink. This is necessary to avoid exposure due to being unmasked.
Below is current information directly from the CDC website. It is information on quarantine and isolation. Please review.
Who needs to quarantine? People who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19—excluding people who have had COVID-19 within the past 3 months or who are fully vaccinated.
⦁ People who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 3 months and recovered do not have to quarantine or get tested again as long as they do not develop new symptoms.
⦁ People who develop symptoms again within 3 months of their first bout of COVID-19 may need to be tested again if there is no other cause identified for their symptoms.
⦁ People who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they have been fully vaccinated (at least two weeks after the last dose) against the disease and show no symptoms. What counts as close contact?
⦁ You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more
⦁ You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19
⦁ You had direct physical contact with the person (hugged or kissed them)
⦁ You shared eating or drinking utensils
⦁ They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you
Steps to Take
⦁ Stay home and monitor your health
⦁ Stay home for 5 days after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19.
⦁ Watch for fever (100.4◦F), cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19
⦁ If possible, stay away from others, especially people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19
